This work was first inspired by the small cats that move through the city—alert and fragile, yet sustained by a resilient vitality, embodying a state of life that is innately free.
The title was changed from Stray Cat to That Cat, for before the formation of human society, all animals were simply part of nature’s living ecology. The term “stray” is a label imposed by humans from a human-centered perspective; in nature itself, there is no such thing as a stray cat.
Through this work, I hope to convey a sense of respect and appreciation for ecology and for life itself, and to invite reflection on the meaning of life and the richness of ecological diversity.
